Omega oils fall within the class of fats that are actually good for you. Without them, our bodies could not function because they are required for a number of vital processes in the body, including a healthy heart, circulation, the production of hormones, muscle growth and the absorption of vitamins.
Certain Omega oils (Omega 3 and Omega 6) are called "essential fatty acids", because they cannot be manufactured by the body and therefore must be obtained from the diet. Omega 9 is necessary, but is not called "essential" because the body can manufacture a modest amount on its own, provided essential fatty acids are present.
